Please notify us 24 hours prior to visit for a cancellation. A $25.00 fee per pet  will be applied to your next visit for a no show/same day cancellation. After 3 no shows we will require a $25.00 per pet deposit to schedule services in advance.

Pet Pick:

Our pups are eager to go home.  For some it can be extremely stressful being away from their pack.  Please pick up pet no later than 45 minutes after notification for pick up. Unschedule boarding will result in a $15.00 fee for every 1 hour following the 45 minute grace period .

Late Policy:

Any customer who arrives in 15 minutes after the scheduled appointment will be automatically cancelled and will need to reschedule. A $25.00 same day cancellation fee will be applied to your next visit.  Please let us know if you are running late and need to reschedule for a later date or time.

Open wound /Ear infection Policy:

We will not service any pets with open wounds. If an open wound is discovered during grooming they will be sent home, and services will be paid for what was completed. Pets with severe ear infections can’t be serviced due to the risk of making the infection worse. Minor ear infections can be serviced but ear hair can’t be plucked and light cleaning of the area will be performed.

Pregnant, Nursing, and In heat pets:

For the safety of the pets we will not perform services on pets that are pregnant, nursing and in heat. The grooming services can be stressful and cause injury to female pets during these times.

Surgery and Stitches Policy

If a pet has had surgery in the past 30 days we will not be able to groom them till all stitches are removed and scabs are healed. We can’t groom pets with stitches. If stitches are found during grooming we will have to stop the service and send the pet home. Any services that are completed before the finding of the stitches will be paid. If a pet has just had a cast removed we will need to wait 1 weeks time before performing grooming to ensure the pet is fully  healed.

Parasites and Fungus Policy

Any pets that have fleas or ticks are required to get a flea bath to treat it. If fleas are found during grooming that were not noticed during check in the owner will be informed and a flea bath has to be performed. If there is an excessive amount of fleas an infestation charge will be applied for $15. If a pet has more than 10 ticks the grooming will have to stop and the owner will need to seek veterinary attention to remove them. Pets with other parasites such as worms, mites, or lice can’t be serviced. If found during grooming the groom will be stopped immediately and pick up must be immediate. These parasites are highly contagious to both people and animals and will not be serviced. Parents will have to show proof of parasites and worms treated by a vet to be able to bring the pet back for services. If a pet has fungal infections on the skin we must perform our skin relief bath so as not to irritate further. Pets with ringworm will not be serviced and if found must be picked up immediately.

Older Pets

The grooming process can be stressful on pets especially those of older age. We do our best to give them breaks and keep them calm during the grooming but if the pet is displaying signs of stress or having trouble we will not be able to service them.

Senior pets and pets with health conditions have a greater chance of injury; these pets will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort, in styles that will not add to their stress.

All Dogs must be leashed Policy:

In order to prevent  altercations between dogs we do ask that all dogs be leashed. Please let us know if you need a lead.

Veterinary care policy.

Grooming may expose hidden health conditions or aggravate current ones during or after the groom. This contract/agreement gives Modern Pooch permission to obtain immediate veterinary treatment for your pet, should it be deemed necessary by Modern Pooch. We will do our best to contact you first, then take your pet to your authorized veterinarian or to the nearest veterinarian that is available. By signing/initialing you are also agreeing that veterinary care expenses will be covered by the pet’s owner. You are also verifying that your pet is free of transmittable diseases.

Accidents

Every effort is made to ensure that your pet is groomed as safely as possible, but there is always the possibility an accident may occur. Pets are wiggly and excitable at times. Grooming equipment is sharp, even though we use extreme caution and care, it is still possible to injure a pet. Injuries may include, but are not limited to; cuts, nicks, scratches, quicked nails, brush burn, etc.

Photography:

Photographs may be taken of your pet and used for advertising and social media.

Aggressive or Dangerous Pets:

Owners MUST inform Modern Pooch if your pet bites, has bitten, or is aggressive towards people, other pets, or specific grooming procedures. Muzzles may be used if necessary. Modern Pooch reserves the right to refuse/stop services for pets at any time before or during the grooming process. A special handling fee may be charged, as it takes extra care to groom aggressive or difficult pets.

Mat Removal:

We will discuss options for matted pets at check-in. Pets with matted coats need extra attention during their grooming session. Mats left in a pet’s coat only become tighter and can cause skin irritation, as well as other health conditions. Modern Pooch will brush out a matted coat if it can be done safely and without causing discomfort to the pet. Some matting cannot be brushed out and therefore will need to be shaved. Removing a heavily matted coat increases the risk of nicks, cuts, or abrasions. Heavy matting can also trap moisture/urine near the pet’s skin, which causes skin infections and irritation. Skin irritations caused by matting may not be evident at check-in; once the coat is removed all skin irritations are made visible. After effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and failure of the hair to re-grow. Modern Pooch is not responsible for conditions resulting from the removal of mats. Shaved pets are also prone to sunburn and should either have sunscreen applied daily or should be kept out of the sun until the hair grows sufficiently to protect the skin. We do have options of special shampoos that include sunscreen protection for 30 days. Pets may also exhibit brief behavioral changes, such as hiding or acting embarrassed. Prevention is the best defense against matting by scheduling regular grooming appointments and daily brushing/combing. De-matting, whether it be brushing or shaving, will incur an additional fee based on how long it takes to De-Matt the pet.

Hold Harmless Agreement

: By signing this contract you (or your Agent) agree to hold Modern Pooch, it’s owners, operators, employees, officers and directors harmless from any damage, loss, or claim arising from any condition of the undersigned pet, either known or unknown to Modern Pooch. It is also further understood and agreed the terms of this agreement can change at any time, without notice, and will overwrite any and all prior signed contracts or releases. It is further understood this clause applies to any and all pets groomed.
